I
honestly had absolutely ZERO idea about what Fifty Shades of Grey was all
about. I just found out my friends from the office were hooked & everyone
was like raving about it & so my curiosity was piqued – and I asked a copy
of the Ebook from Cleofe which she happily obliged (thanks clei-o darling)
My
verdict: All the explicit sex episodes aside (which I think is extremely unnecessary) the story is
entertaining in a Mills & Boon-ish kind of way. Only, I think for the most
part, my being a Twihard got in the way - to the point that the dark, sinister,
baleful character that is CHRISTIAN GREY became a disappointment to me. I
turned pages excitedly half hoping that he’d turn out to be a vampire or a human-preying
creature of some sort who falls deeply in love with an uncoordinated human. To
my dismay, he turned out to be a wounded man with real child molestation issues.
So yeah, he is human. Even then, I certainly hoped he had even just a bit of
Edward’s romantic flair which he didn’t (well at least in the first
installment, coz I heard Darker’s a different story altogether, hmmmm we’ll
see) I wish Anastasia wasn’t at all too giving. It just ruins the whole “romance”
thing. I don’t know with you but for me, it gets really cheap when they resort to
their carnalities. Just when I was ready for the ending (and seriously
considered not reading the sequel) – turned out it was left hanging for that
exact purpose - that I read on to the next!
Fifty
Shades Darker had better be good. And Christian Grey had better confess to
falling in love with Ana, or I swear I am gonna protest. Like crazy.
